A Windy Road to Innovation: Between Technological Opportunities and User Centred Explorations
ABSTRACT:
Where
and how do we find seeds of innovation? Is there a systematic way or 'best
practices' to follow? The history offers a myriad of case studies to learn
from, yet, it seems that each situation is unique in a number ways. Inherent
to innovation is the novelty of the approach through which it is conceived.
In this presentation we provide a detail account of several research projects
that involved technological and user centred work. These examples illustrate
the research process, inform about issues and solutions in particular problem
areas, and discuss improvements made to existing HCI methods in order to carry
out the required user research.
